Frequently asked questions.

What is the first step in starting therapy?

The first step begins with your initial contact with us! You can contact us through the ‘Contact’ tab or through email. After getting in touch, we will set up a free 15-minute telephone consultation to discuss your needs and ensure that they can best be supported at Manavi Therapy Clinic. During the telephone consultation, your therapist will advise you of the next steps!

How does a typical therapy session work?

A typical therapy session is scheduled for 60 minutes and will run for 50 minutes, leaving 10 minutes at the end for your therapist to document notes from your session. The first session is an assessment, designed to learn more about you as well as set therapeutic goals. Ongoing sessions will be designed for your specific needs, with your therapist.

How frequently do I need to attend therapy?

The frequency of therapy sessions is dependent on your therapeutic needs and goals - every individual is different! However, it is recommended to attend the first few sessions on a weekly basis (ie. first 5 sessions), to allow for momentum to build and space to begin working on goals. Dependent on therapeutic needs and goals, sessions can transition to more spread out.

What is proper etiquette for therapy sessions?

Please attend your sessions on time. If you are running late, please take a moment to email your therapist and let them know. If you arrive to your session 30 minutes late or after, the therapist can end the appointment. Please remember, these times are scheduled specifically for you! In order to ensure fairness, we expect that you attend your scheduled appointments.

What happens if I miss my session?

We understand that life happens! If you need to cancel or reschedule, we ask that you notify us within 24 hours of your sessions start time. If you miss your session without proper notification, you will be charged for the appointment, at a full rate. The cancellation policy is included in the documentation that you sign prior to beginning therapy. Remember, these time slots are held for you, not attending can take away from other clients in need.

Do you offer in-person or virtual therapy?

At this time, we offer virtual therapy sessions only. Virtual sessions are connected through a video call - all you need is a device and internet connection. Rest assured, we are hoping to have an in-person office space soon!

How do I know if a therapist is right to work with me?

Finding the right therapist is extremely important for your therapeutic progress! The best way to ensure if a therapist is right for you, is to schedule a telephone consultation and ask about your potential therapists areas of focus, background and experience. You should feel safe and comfortable when speaking with them. It is also important for us to ensure that we have the means to best support you and your mental health! Through the telephone consultation, we can confirm that.
